The eagerly awaited first full length track from the collaborative project between Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, 'Leave The Door Open', is the debut single released under the Silk Sonic moniker. The new track from Mars and .Paak is the debut release from the pair with a full album, 'An Evening with Silk Sonic', due for release later in the year.
The collaborative partnership was named Silk Sonic by the album's "special guest host" Bootsy Collins and represents the first release in some time for both of the extremely talented and creative artists. Although .Paak released a handful of singles in 2020 his last album was 2019's 'Ventura' and Bruno Mars last featured on the 2019 single 'Blow' with ed Sheeran and Chris Stapleton. Mars last album was his 2016 record '24K Magic' released more than four years ago.
'Leave The Door Open' arrived with an introductory track, 'Intro', featuring Bootsy Collins and was both co-written by and co-produced by Bruno Mars. Helping Bruno on production was Grammy nominee D'Mile (Ty Dolla Sign/Justin Bieber/Mary J Blige etc) and helping him pen the song was Andreson .Paak himself.
The track has all the classic hallmarks of a Bruno Mars song. It's silky smooth, exquisitely well put together, ridiculously catchy and inevitably hard to resist. This is top-draw Pop with a beautiful understated soulful character and a nostalgic 70's vibe that'll have you searching for your platforms and flares before the song's even finished.
The combination of Mars and .Paak is one that gives up such a great vocal interaction, both artists seamlessly melting into the other. The layering of the harmonies and the overall quality of the composition once again highlights the incredible skills of both Bruno and Anderson.
