Fresh from finishing fifth in the BBC's 'Sound Of' 2022 poll, Central Cee has decided to celebrate by embarking on a little 'Retail Therapy' for his first release of the new year. The West London rapper lost out in the annual poll to the eventual winner, TikTok sensation - The Pink Pantheress, but Central Cee will undoubtedly be a name that will feature more and more in the public eye as the year progresses. His UK chart success already eclipses that of The Pink Pantheress by some margin.
Central Cee is not new to the music business, he wrote, recorded and released his first single at the tender age of just 13. He says, "I'm 22 now, so it's coming up to 10 years. But I wasn't really in the game. I was still in school, balancing things and just going through life. It was only literally last year, 2020, where I got to take this stuff serious."
2020 was the year that Central Cee began to make his mark with his standout, breakthrough track 'Day In The Life'. Since then CC has gone on to release his debut album, 'Wild West', as well as the singles, 'Molly', 'Loading', 'Pinging (6 Figures)', '6 For 6', 'Little Bit Of This', 'Daily Duppy' and his two top ten tracks, 'Commitment Issues' and 'Obsessed With You'.
Oakley Caesar-Su, aka Central Cee, finished 2021 on a high note by making a guest appearance on Ed Sheeran's 'Bad Habits' remix and has now kick-started his 2022 campaign with a succinct, slice of lyrical dexterity, cleverly infused with some jazzy horns and subterranean bass lines.
'Retail Therapy', Central Cee's first release since he dropped 'Daily Duppy' on Christmas Day, is just one of the fifteen songs lifted from Central Cee’s forthcoming mixtape, '23', which is scheduled to be released on February 25th.
