It's been a collaborative kind of year for Chris Brown and it's ending with another that features Young Thug as they share a video for their song, 'City Girls'. The song is taken from the 13 track album 'Slime & B' that they released together earlier this year.
Brown's penchant for imaginative videos continues in earnest on the lavish production of 'City Girls'. It's a far cry from his virtual reality, sci-fi inspired post apocalyptic video for 'Say You Love Me' but it is equally as engrossing.
For 'City Girls' Chris Brown has dipped into the past rather than travelled into the future. This time around Brown is transported back to the 1940's in his double breasted suit and tan Fedora. The short cinematic film even contains a narration provided by actor Lillo Brancato Jr.
In a club reminiscent of The Cotton Club, or even Fat Sam's, Brown looks every bit the suave womaniser. It doesn't take long before Brown's at the bar trying to charm the next "special act" due on stage but she's playing it remarkably cool and not succumbing to his advances.
The burlesque dancer captivates Brown as he sits to watch her from a stage side table. The very flexible dancer wows the crowd with her near gymnastic routine before she is joined by her fellow dancers. It doesn't take long though before trouble arrives through the Art Deco doors of the club and things start to turn violent.
In-between shots of the unfolding mayhem there are also plenty of shots of Chris Brown himself taking to the stage playing out his inner Richard Gere, Albin Humpty Jenkins or even MJ as he dances the night away.
The bloody end to the film sees Brown emerge the hero as he eventually walks the talented burlesque dancer out of the front door and protects her from danger. It follows the formula of many a gangster flick but it works incredibly well.
