Dave East has dropped a truly gritty short film inspired by his song 'The Hated' featuring Nas. It's a violent, crime-centered piece all about the thug life in New York City.
The video is a 9-minute venture directed by Kid Art and begins with a couple of smirking individuals getting roughed up by the NYPD at their apartment. We later discover the events leading up to that, and it's a Harlem tale of drugs, brotherhood and vengeance.
It is allegedly based on a true story, though whether it's something to do with Dave East's troubled past in particular is unknown.
The story is followed more in the lyrics of 'The Hated', an offcut from his 'Paranoia' EP which he dropped in August 2017.
The EP also featured guest appearances from the likes of Wiz Khalifa, French Montana and Chris Brown, plus a follow-up entitled 'Paranoia 2' dropped in January 2018 with more guests like Marsha Ambrosius, T.I. and Lloyd Banks.
