Ahead of her hotly anticipated EP, 'Revelación', which is due out later this month, Selena Gomez has dropped the third track to be lifted from it, 'Selfish Love'. The 'Wolves' singer has already released two singles from the forthcoming record this year. On the 14th January she released the solo single 'De Una Vez' and just two weeks later she released her duet with Rauw Alejandro, 'Baila Conmigo'.
This time around Selena Gomez has teamed up with DJ Snake on a bilingual release, 'Selfish Love'. Selena's third track of the seven on her Spanish language EP is her smoothest so far with Gomez restraining her vocal slightly as she sings in more whispered tones over a Latin infused soundtrack. The measured percussion provides an irresistible rhythm to Selena's gorgeous vocals and a fabulous horn section. The laid back track is subtly sexy and softly sensual in equal measure.
DJ Snake, who has worked with J.Balvin, Tyga, Skrillex, Travis Scott and Justin Bieber, last collaborated with Selena Gomez on the huge hit, 'Taki Taki', a track that also featured Cardi B and Ozuna. Two and a half years later, and ten years on from the promise that Gomez made to release a Spanish only record, the pair have once again come up with another great, Latin infused Pop song that'll be adored my her fans.
Gomez is reported to have recorded most of the music for the seven track EP over Zoom during the pandemic and has said, "At the time, doing a Spanish project was just an idea being bounced around. Then the rest of the project just kind of happened really quickly and organically."
Selena's video premiered at exactly the same time as her new single was released and sees Gomez running a rather surreal hair salon. The hair lined walls of the cutting booth coupled with the hand-held hair driers that pop out of them are like the worst Ghost Train experience you could imagine whilst the talking mirrors seem to have taken their cue from Harry Potter. As for the wallpaper that comes alive, well, as much as I might like Selena as a hairstylist, I think I might pass on this occasion!
