'Streets', the new single and video from 'Say So' singer Doja Cat, has landed and it's awesome. Amala Dlamini (aka Doja Cat), fresh from her hook up with Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion on the re-worked '34+35' track, has gone all out Hollywood blockbuster on her latest video.
Doja Cat's latest release, a song lifted from her 2019 album 'Hot Pink' follows up this year's single 'Best Friend' where she teamed up with Saweetie. This time around Doja Cat is well and truly on her own and whole heartedly embraces her solo performance both on the song and in the spectacular video that accompanies it.
'Streets' is already one of Doja Cat's most streamed songs having had more than 170 million streams on Spotify alone but after the premier of this, her latest in a line of extraordinary videos, that number will no doubt sky rocket.
During the 4m33s of Doja Cat's 'Streets' video we see her as a lap dancer, in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, as a super-sexy spider woman and as a hyper stylised shop mannequin. She excels in each performance but especially as she 'crawls' menacingly towards you, or her prey, in her body hugging spider woman outfit.
The brilliantly conceived video, by Christian Breslauer (Jason Derulo/Tiesto/Tony Lanez etc), is a cinematic wonder with great visuals throughout. Breslauer has done a fabulous job in making this an excellent short film. It has a proper old fashioned style storyline to it, with a beginning, a middle and a very good, if not somewhat predictable ending that wraps everything up in a nice little bow. Doja Cat's 'Streets' is like a mini movie it's that good.
With a performance like this we're sure to be in for another treat when Doja Cat performs at The Grammy's this year.
