Norwegian bedroom-pop artist and queer icon Girl In Red drops her new single 'Seratonin' alongside a melancholy, black and white, a cappella video which she and a friend recorded in just five minutes with one take.
While not referencing the crisis itself, the album was written in lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this song - co-produced by Finneas - in particular strongly reflects how the situation has impacted people with mental health issues. The verses detail what's going on in the singer's head while her emotional state is at its worst, with lyrics such as: "I get intrusive thoughts / Like cutting my hands off / Like jumping in front of a bus" echoing particularly strongly.
Girl In Red (real name Marie Ulven) is set to release her debut studio album 'If I Could Make It Go Quiet' this Spring. She released the lead single 'Midnight Love' in May last year, followed by 'Rue' in August. She intends to set out on her second headline tour in 2022 - the Make It Go Quiet Tour - three years since her first headlining stint in 2019 with The World in Red Tour.
'If I Could Make It Go Quiet' is set to drop on April 30th 2021 through AWAL.
