Griff and Sigrid hook up to deliver their first new music of the year with a collaborative new single - 'Head On Fire'. After kicking off 2021 spectacularly with her stunning single - 'Black Hole', BRIT 'Rising Star' award winner Griff's last release, back in October, saw her feature on HONNE's track - 'Back On Top'. Sigrid meanwhile released an EP in April - 'Sing Out Loud', and went on to release various versions of 'Mirror' and 'Burning Bridges' before closing out the year with her festive offering - 'Home To You (This Christmas)'.
The surprise combination of Sigrid and Griff was first announced during an interview with the NME where Sigrid had said, "Griff and I decided to meet up and write a little bit together recently, which was fun. Of course we wanted to be in the studio and see what happened there, but it was also really nice to hang out and chat about how things are going and how we’re feeling".
Griff and Sigrid got together after cementing their friendship over a shared pizza during London Fashion Week. In a more recent interview Sigrid explained that, "Griff and I met sharing a pizza at the Rueben Selby show at Fashion Week in London. We went to the studio a while later and just had a day of talking about life, before writing ‘Head On Fire’".
Sigrid explained that the new song is "about that feeling when you meet someone who just flips everything upside down and you can’t focus on anything else but that person" whilst Griff described the song as, "really fun" and "feel-good", adding that she was "excited for the world to finally hear us on a track together".
As the single dropped Griff tweeted, "Head on fire is finally here friends...@thisissigrid and I are currently running around rehearsals very excited about this" whilst Sigrid simply posted, "our song head on fire is out now, hope u like it". Given the success of the duet I wouldn't be surprised at all if we heard more from Griff and Sigrid.
