Jesy Nelson hooks up with Nicki Minaj to cause havoc in the suburbs in the video for her debut solo single 'Boyz'. With a little help from P Diddy, both musically and neighbourly, Jesy delivers up a sassy slice of street swagger for her first release since leaving her former band Little Mix.
'Boyz' samples Diddy's 2001 track 'Bad Boy For Life' and features 'WHOLE LOTTA MONEY' singer, and CoVID vaccine sceptic, Nicki Minaj.
Jesy's first single since leaving Little Mix is a break up song where Nelson evaluates "Why do I like bad boys, what is wrong with me? Why am I attracted to anyone that looks naughty?" It's a proper pop banger and Jesy said recently to Noctis Magazine that "You're either going to love it or you're going to hate it and I would rather that than people be like, 'Meh, okay…"
In the Harry James directed video Jesy Nelson rocks up in a tour bus to her newly purchased house in a well-to-do neighbourhood with her entourage in tow. The stupefied residents are aghast as the bawdy bunch disembark the coach all prepped and ready to get the party started.
As Jesy sings "You know I like a bad bad boy" she swing away from her roof top and smacks a golf ball through P Diddy's window. "Hey, Jeezy, Jessie, Little Mix, whatever you're calling yourself these days" Diddy quips as he hands the ball back "This isn't gonna fly."
Jesy contacted former producers of Little Mix's 'Touch' - Loose Change, when she decided to use Diddy's song as a platform for her first single. She recalls saying to them, "You'll think I'm a nutter but I really want to write a song about why most women like bad boys and I want to use the Diddy song."
Jesy is certainty ticking a lot of boxes with her debut solo single and will no doubt fly high in the charts as the hoards of Little Mix fans, coupled with the not insubstantial following that Nicki Minaj has, rush to hear 'Boyz'.
