Joshua Bassett becomes the second 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' star this year, after Olivia Rodrigo, to release a single with his song, 'Lie Lie Lie'. Joshua started releasing his own solo material last year with 'Common Sense' in April and then 'Anyone Else' in July.
Bassett's latest single, released on January 14th this year, also coincided with the young Californian actor taking a trip to the ER as he experienced the "worst pain of my life". He thanked the "sweetest, most professional" team of doctors and nurses who made him feel "very safe."
In an on-line post Joshua explained, "Welp... not the first place I assumed I'd be on my 'Lie Lie Lie' release day... the ER!! (before you ask, no it’s not covid.) after an unknown, uncomfortable feeling turned into, times 10, the worst pain of my life, I figured I'd just try to sleep,". "After multiple, very very ugly days and nights, I had no choice today but be taken to the hospital. I'd like to say thank you!!!! for all the support on the song!!! I've been doing what i can today to stay involved. had my first surgery tonight ! gonna rest at the hospital and the doctors will see what they see in the morn! much love to all!"
Joshua Bassett is now recovering after surgery and enjoying the success of his latest single, 'Lie, Lie, Lie'. His first new material of 2021 is thought to pre-empt a bigger project he is likely to deliver later in the year through Warner Bros.
'Lie, Lie, Lie', showcases Bassett's voice perfectly, putting it at the centre of the lively arrangement. The up-beat and energised track blends a little Latin into the pop mix with echoes of JT and Ed Sheeran to be heard throughout.
