Exactly one year after his untimely and unfortunate death comes a posthumous release from Juice WRLD and The Kid Laroi entitled 'Remind Me Of You'. The succinct song is another track that both Juice WRLD and The Kid Laroi have partnered on having previously collaborated on 'Hate The Other Side'.
Jared Higgins, aka Juice WRLD, was only just 21 when he died and he was clearly a rising star. Having released a string of very well received albums, and even at the time of his death having three singles in the Billboard top 100, JW was a future superstar in the making.
His death, recorded as an accident, from a seizure caused by an overdose of the painkillers oxycodeine and codeine prevented us from seeing this prodigious talent flourish further. He had already worked with the likes of Young Thug, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and The Weekend, to name but a few, and was widely seen as a mentor to Australia's The Kid Laroi.
The Kid Laroi's breakthrough track 'Go', released in June this year, also features Juice WRLD and is similarly set to his latest track 'Remind Me Of You'. The steady, casual beat lets the vocals flow over the top without too much distraction from the snare driven soundtrack.
The story of a lost love and relationship breakdown is nothing new, "I can't play that song cause it reminds me of you, I can't watch that song cause it reminds me of you" go the lyrics as the torment gets so grave it provokes homicidal thoughts. You could say it's rather an odd song to release on the anniversary of Higgins death but it does serve to remind us that his was a talent taken from us far too early.
