Lil Nas X does a great impression of Prison Break's Theodore 'T-Bag' Bagwell before he does an Andy Dufresne and escapes his cell in the video for 'INDUSTRY BABY'. After receiving a mini rock hammer in 'The Book Of Montero' from a fellow inmate on library duty Lil Nas X chips away a hole behind his own poster.
After being sentenced "to five years in Montero State Prison" Lil Nas X makes his escape between the walls and down in the pipes of the prison just as Andy Dufresne did all those years ago in 'The Shawshank Redemption'. Once he's made a successful escape Lil Nas X presses the release button for the gen-pop where Jack Harlow is held.
Dressed in a shocking pink prison outfit Lil Nas X and the rest of the incarcerated inmates cut quite a striking look, especially in the brilliantly choreographed dance routines that litter the video. The almost safe for work version of the video is only made possible however with a lot of pixelation as at one point Nas and a posse of inmates dance butt naked in the shower block. Nas has said that the video is "not safe for kids".
'INDUSTRY BABY' is Lil Nas X's third single this year following 'Montero (Call Me By Your Name)' released in April and 'SUN GOES DOWN' in May. All three tracks have had a biographical element to them as Lil Nas X tells the story of his life through his songs.
For Jack Harlow 'INDUSTRY BABY' represents his third collaboration this year having featured on Eminem's 'Killer' and the 'Body' remix with Tion Wayne and Russ Millions. The all star cast on 'INDUSTRY BABY' is further enhanced by having Kanye West on production duty and Christian Breslauer (Doja Cat/Tony Lanez/Marshmellow) directing the music video.
