Marina showcases a new video for only her second single this year, 'Man's World'. Up high in the sun scorched hills Marina and her brightly adorned group of like minded souls seem to have travelled back in time.
The rainbow of primary colours worn in the video dazzle the viewer as they all dance and walk along the unspoilt hillside. Marina is harking for a better time, a time where people can appreciate the beauty that surrounds them and not destroy it.
"I don't want to live in a man's world anymore" Marina explains, "Mother Nature's dying, no one's keeping score". This theme is repeated throughout as the chorus to the song but there are also more pointed, explicitly targeted references that sit alongside the more generic ones.
As Marina expands her ideas through the song she becomes very critical of the "Sheik who killed thousands of gay men, I guess that's why he bought the campest hotel in L.A then". Marina is referring to the Beverly Hills Hotel, a hotel now owned by the Brunei Investment Agency but originally bought by the Sultan Of Brunei himself. His use of Sharia law against homosexuals has been a source of ongoing controversy, and one which Marina clearly wants to highlight.
"Don't underestimate the making of life, the planet has a funny way of stopping a fight" Marina goes on. Whatever the message though, and whatever the underlying issues the song brings to the fore, it also highlights what a sensational, individual and captivating voice Marina possess; her vocal delivery here is sensational.
