Hot on the heels of the lead single to their forthcoming album, Mattiel have released it's second track - 'Lighthouse'. Late last year Mattiel introduced us to their third album with the irresistible scuzzy pop of 'Jeff Goldblum'; Mattiel Brown's "very real" crush.
Two months ahead of the release of their new 11 track album, 'Georgia Gothic', and Mattiel have shared another slice of hook laden power-pop with their latest track, 'Lighthouse'. The jangly guitars and layered harmonies are signature Mattiel sounds that let Brown's distinctive vocal and Swilley's fuzzy guitar riffs intertwine beautifully.
Talking about her latest single, Brown said, "We hope Lighthouse is a positive, uplifting song for anyone who hears it. If you’re working toward something and it feels like an uphill battle, that can be a sign that you’re headed in the right direction. And there’s always someone or something to help guide you through it". She says that it's "A safe refuge in a storm, or a place to rest before you have to go back out into the waves again".
'Georgia Gothic', Mattiel's follow up album to 2019's 'Satis Factory', was recorded by singer-songwriter Mattiel Brown and guitarist Jonah Swilley in North Atlanta in "Some faraway place that just Jonah and I could go where there would be no distractions, nothing else going on, and we could turn everything off and only focus on writing songs."
The video for Mattiel's latest track was "directed, filmed and edited" by renowned portrait and product photographer Jason Travis. On the day that it premiered Mattiel took to Instagram to say, "Our new song Lighthouse is out. We hope you find this as a positive sign. Go watch the video, seriously. We had such a great time making it with @jtrav out on the beach. Links all in the bio ~ you know the drill".
'Jeff Goldblum' was Mattiel's first single to be released since 'Those Words' back in April of 2021 and it saw the band receive heavy rotation on BBC 6Music as they remained on the 'A' playlist for six consecutive weeks. Hopefully they can replicate that success with their new track, 'Lighthouse' and see a return to the days when 'Whites Of Their Eyes', 'Count Your Blessings' and 'Je Ne Me Connais Pas' were all over the airwaves.
'Georgia Gothic' will be released on March 18th via Heavenly Recordings.
