Seven years following his stint on 'The X Factor' (UK), Essex singer Sam Callahan has returned with a brand new single entitled 'Demons', which drops today (October 23rd) with a video premiering exclusively on Contactmusic.
Produced by Jamie Sellers with the video directed by Jake Pursey, the song is representative of a long period of growth for Sam Callahan, who is virtually unrecognisable from his 'X Factor' days. Plus, it's something that we can all relate to; we all have our own demons and sometimes we really need to purge the toxicity from our lives.
"Behind all of us is a story and a past that has made us into who we are today, and I’m really excited to be able to share mine with those who’ve supported me through it", Sam said in a statement. "Since 2013, I’ve grown in so many ways, and dealt with lot of issues that have influenced my life a lot and also the decisions I’ve made; but it all started a long time ago, way before anyone had any idea who Sam Callahan was.
"Being able to address a lot of this, and openly and honestly confront my own ‘demons’, as well as those I’ve experienced second hand through people I once trusted and regarded as close to me, is a super therapeutic and cathartic experience."
In fact, 'Demons' is something of a direct letter to so-called former school friends, one in particular who would take their own insecurities out on other people by criticising everyone else and ultimately was one person who Sam grew to realise could not be helped. By him or anyone else.
"'Demons' is just about taking comfort in the fact that closing those doors and burning those bridges is a good thing, no matter how hard it feels at the time", he added. "Sometimes it's necessary for our own progression, growth and good mental health!"
We can't begin to describe how much we agree with that, Sam!
