Selena Gomez is coming good on her age old promise to deliver a set of songs in Spanish as she drops her second single in as many weeks with the release of her latest track, 'Baila Conmigo'. Gomez follows the her extremely well received first single of the year, 'De Una Vez', with a consecutive song sung in Spanish as she hooks up with Puerto Rican R&B Dancehall singer Rauw Alejandro.
Alejandro is clearly very appreciative that he was given the chance to work with Gomez, saying, "The fact an artist of Selena’s caliber considered me to collaborate on her project is a blessing.‘Baila Conmigo’ is super catchy and sexy. I hope fans love this collaboration as much as I do.” (We think that they most definitely will!)
Selena announced via her socials, to the ecstatic delight of her massive fan base, that she would be releasing a full EP of Spanish songs on March 12th this year. Entitled ' Revelación'(Revelation), Selana's new material will be made up of seven songs, including her two January singles.
Selena's latest track, which translates into English as 'Dance With Me', was produced by Albert Hype, Jota Rosa, Neon16 and renowned Puerto Rican artist Tainy. Tainy commented, “It was a really interesting song for me to work on with Selena, since it fuses an authentic reggaeton sound with elements like the plucked electric guitar that lean more pop. Rauw’s melodies captured that essence and complemented Selena’s very well. I’m excited for this one!
The accompanying video for the song was directed by Brazilian film maker Fernando Nogari (How to Survive a Day) and shot between LA, Miami and a tiny coastal village in Brazil". “The video portrays the sense of isolation we all are experiencing right now and how music truly does connect us all no matter where we are in the world.” Gomez added, “With ‘Baila Conmigo,’ I want to get everyone dancing,”
'Baila Conmigo' looks set, not only get everyone dancing, but also to get them super-hyped for the EP later in the year. Selena's promise of a Spanish release may have been some ten years in the making but it is now closer than ever to becoming a long awaited reality.
