Fresh from his extremely successful duet with Justin Bieber last month on 'Monster' Shawn Mendes joins his partner Camila Cabello for their version of 'The Christmas Song'. Shawn and Camila's festive offering may not be as obviously serious as his hook up with Justin but it isn't just another pop star jumping aboard the Christmas money train.
Camila and Shawn's Christmas song also comes with an important additional message. "For every ten million streams of “The Christmas Song” by Shawn and Camila, during the period commencing December 5, 2020 and ending on December 31, 2020, $10,000 USD will be donated to Feeding America through The Shawn Mendes Foundation, a project of the Social Impact Fund, a registered 501(c)(3) organization, subject to a minimum donation of $100,000 USD.
So a minimum $100,000 USD donation from Shawn and Camila, that's not too shabby is it? A little charity at Christmas can go a long way and the young stars clearly want to play their part.
The pair are genuinely loved up in the video that has been shot for the song. The grainy home movie sees them dancing outside under fairy lights, sporting some mighty fine festive knitwear and even getting their cute little Labradors in on the action. Both Shawn and Camila can't hide their feelings as they laugh together and exchange knowing glances, it's actually really heartwarming to see such unreserved, unrehearsed affection.
'The Christmas Song' has been very sympathetically covered by both of the singers with Camila in particular in extraordinarily good voice. Hopefully the Christmas spirit imparted in the song, and intended through their gesture, will bring some much needed joy to people this Christmas.
