Starcrawler are channeling Peaky Blinders meets The Purge, meets Joker, in the video for their latest song ‘Goodtime Girl’ which features some very unexpected guests.
The video has been directed by Gilbert Trejo, whose famous father - ‘Machete’ star - Danny Trejo makes a memorable appearance alongside Baywatch legend David Hasselhoff, in a story that looks to be about gang violence with a comic book twist.
‘Goodtime Girl’ is a new single written as a contribution to the ‘Dark Nights: Death Metal’ soundtrack; a series of DC Comics written by Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo. Other singles on the official soundtrack include ‘Broken Dreams, Inc.’ by Rise Against, Maria Brink and Andy Biersack's ‘Meet Me in the Fire’, Chelsea Wolfe's ‘Diana’ and Idles' ‘Sodium’, among others.
The song comes eight months after Starcrawler dropped the video for their last single: a cover of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ ‘I Need To Know’ featuring Mike Campbell for Petty’s 70th birthday. Since then, the band have seen the departure of original member Austin Smith.
Starcrawler released their second album ‘Devour You’ in 2019, with songs the likes of’ Bet My Brains’ and ‘No More Pennies’. This year they are appearing in the Dave Grohl-directed documentary ‘What Drives Us’.
