Tones And I takes a road trip through the Aussie outback, driving a classic black Mustang into the middle of nowhere, in the video for her latest single - 'EYES DON'T LIE'. The 'Dance Monkey' artist has been largely off the grid since she released her debut album - 'Welcome To The Madhouse' back in July of last year but she's hooked up with Nick Kozaki and Liam Kelly (The team behind her 'Dance Monkey' video) once more for her latest release.
The video, which sees Tones at the wheel of the 60's icon until it breaks down, was filmed in several locations across Newcastle, New South Wales, and Adelaide, South Australia. Tones And I said that - "The music video reflects being alone, but not lonely. Escaping something that hurt and happy to be wherever else, even though it’s over...I am still reflecting and telling my story one last time, before I move on". After miraculously happening upon a bar as she abandons her broken down Ford, Tones is then consumed by a massive sandstorm and confronted by a gang of 'Grim Reapers' who share a remarkable similarity to Harry Potter's 'Death Eaters'.
In a recent press statement Toni Watson (aka Tones And I) explained that - "‘Eyes Don’t Lie’ is written about a large loss of someone/something...[It's about] Resenting the person/feeling you get and realising it was a toxic person/feeling all along".
Tones went on to say that 'EYES DON'T LIE' tells the story of - "Someone taking advantage of you and you taking advantage of yourself. Feeling better off and putting that last bit of bitterness behind you"
'EYES DON'T LIE', Tones first release of 2022, is expected to be the lead track from her next album which is rumoured to be slated for release some time later this summer.
