Facebook wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t Vin Diesel. That’s what the actor appeared to be trying to say when he said – joked? – that it was his Facebook page and its popularity that helped the social networking giant take off in such a big way. He must be furious they didn’t include that part in The Social Network.

The brawny actor’s Facebook page has over 41 million likes and was one of the earliest growing pages, topping 1 million fans in 2009 to make it one of the most popular pages at the time. And why? Because Vin simply spoke to his fans. “What Facebook didn’t realize is something very big was about to happen," he told Entertainment Weekly. "For the first time in history, and it’s kind of a fluke they didn’t see this coming - when I jumped on that page in April 2009, I started talking to people. In the realest ways. So, when I had started my page, the only person that had a million fans was Barack Obama. Because it was first-quarter 2009, and he’d just got elected as President. So, when I started talking to fans, I became the #1 page in the world. Over Coca-Cola, huge companies. And it was only because I said: ‘Hi, guys, I love you.’

Here’s where he gets silly. “Imagine if you could’ve been a Facebook friend to Marlon Brando, or whoever your role models are. Imagine, if you were able to Facebook Elvis, and talk to him, hear from him without the Hollywood of it all. That was the Fast & Furious 6 experience.” We’re not sure too many people look up to him quite the same way as they did those entertainment pioneers, but never mind. The actor also added that the Facebook team approached him “to come up to their office to explain what the f--k I was doing, and why I had so many fans.” He finished “Facebook really owes me billions of dollars,” he jokes. “But whatever.” Sure.
