From what the audience knows already, through different clips and trailers, the story, set in present day, looks back at an unknown writer's memoirs which began at the Grand Budapest Hotel in the fictional Republic of Zubrowka, set in 1932.

Ralph Fiennes, who isn't known for his comedy acting, is the protagonist of the tale and plays M. Gustave H, the concierge of the hotel, who inherits a painting from an elderly guest and his lover, but quickly finds himself framed for her murder.
Although this movie may not pander to all cinemagoers taste, it is an intriguing watch which includes love, loss, lies and murder all mixed into its impassive humour, all from the perspective of a young lobby boy, played by Tony Revolori.
