You'd be forgiven for being a little confused by Will Ferrell’s appearance on last night’s edition of ‘The Tonight Show’, after all host Jimmy Fallon also seemed pretty perplexed by the comedian’s choice of costume. Ferrell appeared on Fallon's sofa dressed as Little Debbie's snack cakes mascot, Little Debbie and refused to break character during his interview, which was meant to be promoting new movie Get Hard.

Wearing a blue check dress, a white apron, black patent shoes, white ruffle socks and with a curly brown wig under his straw hat, Ferrell gave no real explanation for his choice of attire, as host Fallon looked on baffled.

Kristen Wiig And Haley Joel Osment will be returning for ‘The Spoils of Babylon’ sequel, ‘The Spoils Before Dying’ network IFC has announced, while Bridesmaids star Maya Rudolph has also been added to the miniseries’ ever growing cast.

Michael Sheen, Val Kilmer, Steve Tom and Marc Evan Jackson who starred in the original miniseries which aired last year, have also singed on return. Actor and funny-man Will Ferrell got thrown out of a basketball game after nailing a cheerleader with a ball. This wasn’t some disgraceful public meltdown, though: Ferrell had surprised New Orleans fans during half-time by shooting part of his new film Daddy’s Home, which also stars Mark Wahlberg.

Wahlberg was also courtside on Wednesday night at the Smoothie King Center, home of the New Orleans Pelicans who were playing host to a game against Los Angeles Lakers. Ferrell shot a scene that required him to drunkenly attempt a half-court shot and miss, wiping out an unsuspecting cheerleader in the process.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's inspired Lego Movie is officially the No.1 movie at the UK box office for 2014, beating comedy sequel The Inbetweeners 2 and epic sci-fi film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The animated movie - which will spawn a sequel in the near future - took an overall £34.27 million.

It was a week for photo-calls, as the cast of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes gathered in San Francisco. Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell and director Matt Reeves were all on-hand to premiere the film and then pose for some picturesque shots in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. Ferrell agreed saying, "It has been acknowledged many times that myself and Chad Smith, drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, share a resemblance to each other.” He then continued. "A lot of people think that it's me playing for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. But that would be an insult to Chad Smith. The truth of the matter is there is no Will Ferrell. Only Chad Smith.” However later he posted a video thanking fans for the AMA session and saying “It was great to finally clear up the fact that I am Chad Smith."

The Lego Movie went down so well with the critics and fans alike, Warner Bros. have set a release date for its sequel while the first one is still in cinemas. May 26, 2017 is the magic day the studio confirmed on Friday.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has maintained its number one position in the box office charts for a third week. Peter Jackson's sequel has fought of competition from Disney animation Frozen, comedy Anchorman: The Legend Continues and crime drama American Hustle to claim 2013's final weekend triumph.

So far The Hobbit has collected $190 million at the worldwide box office but the total is still behind the original instalment which had already picked up $230 million by the third weekend. In its sixth week of release, Disney's Frozen gave a still impressive performance, taking $28.8 million behind The Hobbit's $29.9 million weekend total.

It's been nine years since we first met Ron Burgundy, as inhabited by Will Ferrell in 2004's Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Actor Steve Carell had difficulty working on the 'Anchorman' sequel because he found Will Ferrell so funny it was ''almost impossible'' to work with him. The 51-year-old 'Despicable Me' actor apparently had no quarrels with immediately signing on for 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues', as the 2004 original was the "best fun" he's ever had. Rudd lamented that he had been overshadowed by previous musical guests Beyoncé and Paul McCartney only to be upstaged once again by the British fivesome.
