It's been nine years since we first met Ron Burgundy, as inhabited by Will Ferrell in 2004's Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. The film wasn't a massive hit when it opened, but over the years a cult following has steadily grown. So with the increasing popularity it was inevitable that a sequel would arise. And here we have Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, a comedy pastiche that's likely to only properly please die-hard fans of the original's mixture of broad goofiness and surreally absurd gags. The gang is all back - Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner, Christina Applegate, plus cameos from Harrison Ford, Vince Vaughn and many more. 

So can it live up to the hype? Of course not. Burgundy obsessives won't care that this film feels pasted together from a random collection of references and sight-gags. They'll just be happy to see their hero on the big screen (most probably they only saw the first one on video anyway). The problem is that this new film is unlikely to earn many new fans because the plot is so scattershot that we can't get involved.
