Even though plenty of people love (ironically or not) Will Ferrell’s 2003 Christmas film Elf, the actor himself isn’t keen on reprising his role. Ferrell said as much during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, where he explained that a decade later, he feels too old for Christmassy shenanigans.

Ferrell thinks he'd look ridiculous in his old costume.

Ferrell said: ''Absolutely not ... I just think it would look slightly pathetic if I tried to squeeze back in the elf tights; Buddy the middle-aged elf.''

There’s no doubt that Elf is more than a bit campy, but it isn’t without its fans. Recently, Wolverine Hugh Jackman reveals that the comedy is a favorite in his family around Christmas. He previously said: ''My kids are getting older but we genuinely look forward to watching the same movies. There have been great animated movies, but now they're getting into live action stuff. But Elf, for years, has been the one that my wife and the kids have all liked.''

Let's be honest though, we'd all love to see that.

Unfortunately, Ferrell has made it clear that he will not star in another one. At least fans have the newly released Anchorman 2 to look forward to for their daily dose of Ferrell ridiculousness. The movie has been out in the US since the 18th and is so far receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews. It currently holds a 75% "fresh" rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
