Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis launched their fake political tour on Tuesday morning (July 17, 2012), in support of their new movie 'The Campaign'. Starting work at The Grove shopping complex in Los Angeles, Ferrell told the crowds, "Thank you for coming out to the historic Grove", with Galifianakis seconding, "Where even the homeless people are fake".

It was the first day of a whistle-stop promotional tour for their new comedy, and the two comedians took swipes at each other on the presidential style podium. In the movie, Ferrell plays a veteran congressman whose womanizing and binge drinking ways has absolutely zero effect on his electability, until the inexperienced local Marty Huggins, played by Galifiankais, steps up to challenge him. Speaking to USA Today, the Hangover star explained, "I'm kind of a fish out of water when it comes to the political game, and I think Will's character is very savvy at it", while Ferrell added, "With the state of how crazy politics are getting, we thought it would be a very timely and funny way to kind of make fun of politics". Ferrell was asked about his first priority should he ever win public office himself, telling the crowds, "I would do exactly what the congress-people are doing right now.Nothing. I'd just hang out in Washington, go to great restaurants". Asked how he would plan on getting the Latino vote, Ferrell added, "Zach and I have been spending a lot of time with Ricky Martin lately".

The tour touches down in Dallas, Chicago, Seattle and San Francisco this week, with a second leg later this month heading to Boston, Toronto, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. The movie hits cinemas in the U.S. on August 10, 2012.
