Kristen Stewart has left Glenn Ficarra and John Requa's romantic-drama-thriller Focus, for unknown reasons. It appears she slipped away from the project quietly a few weeks ago, which is a shame considering one of the biggest movie stars in the world is in talks for the male lead. Focus has had just about every actor and actress in Hollywood attached at some point, with nobody appearing to know whether it's going to be any good or not. The male lead was written for Ryan Gosling, with Emma Stone sounded out for the female lead, though neither was available.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ben Affleck and Kristen Stewart were offered the roles, which they accepted before Affleck left following his Oscars success. Stewart was still attached to the project until a couple of weeks ago. Now, Will Smith is in negotiations to star in the movie about about a con-man who becomes romantically involved with a novice before being thrown off his game when a former flame shows up as he's staging an elaborate con in Argentina. It would be Smith's first collaboration with Warner Bros' since 2007's I Am Legend, and the studio will be hoping Focus does similar business.

Will Smith is currently shooting the fantasy movie Winter's Tale with Russell Crowe. Should he take the Focus role, production should finally begin in the summer (if they find a lead actress).
