The Independence Day star began his career as a rapper and went on to release four solo albums.

He also clocked up five records as part of musical duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince.

Will has been absent from the music scene since his 2005 release Lost and Found, but he has now made a new bid for chart success.

He has laid down raps in both English and Spanish for a song, titled Fiesta, by electro group Bomba Estereo.

Reports suggest he became a fan of the band's music during a recent trip to Colombia.

"When I was told that Will Smith wanted to collaborate on a remix with Bomba, I couldn't believe it," bandmember Simon Mejia says. "This opportunity to work with Will was beyond anything we have dreamed of... It's just magic."

Will won his first Grammy Award for 1988 DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince track Parents Just Don't Understand.

He went on to win a second with Jeff for their 1991 hit Summertime.

Will won two more for his solo work, landing honours for 1998 movie theme Men In Black and 1999's Gettin' Jiggy Wit It.
