William Shatner Has Led Tributes On Social Media To His Late Star Trek Co-star Yvonne Craig Following Her Death On Monday (17aug15).
Craig, 78, best known for her portrayal of Batgirl in Adam West's Batman TV show, passed away at her home in California following a battle with cancer, and her famous contemporaries have since gone online to express their sadness at her passing.
The former ballet dancer starred as an alien seductress in a 1969 episode of Star Trek and shared several scenes with Captain James T. Kirk, played by Shatner, who writes in a post on Twitter.com, "Sad to learn of Yvonne's passing. As Batgirl she was one of America's sweethearts."
Fellow 1960s TV star Patty Duke also joined the tributes, writing on the social network, "Sad to hear of Yvonne Craig's passing. RIP," while singer Nancy Sinatra tweets, "Farewell old friend and godspeed."
Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum adds, "Batgirl has left the planet #rip Yvonne Craig the original female superhero".
