Disney has set their sights on adapting Winnie The Pooh into a live-action feature film, according to a report. Based on the stories of A.A. Milne, Winnie The Pooh was first adapted into an animated movie in 1966 and has been the regularly adapted into Disney films and television series ever since.

Apparently the film will centre on Christopher Robin, now a grown man, as he returns to the world of the Hundred Acre Wood and rediscovers his childhood friends including, of course, Pooh Bear. Alex Ross Perry, the writer and director of Listen Up Philip, has reportedly been signed to pen the script. Deadline suggests the hiring of writers known for their Indie credentials will ensure the films are enjoyable for both children and their parents.

It is uncertain if Winnie and his friends, Eeyore, Kanga, Owl, Piglet, Rabbit, Roo and Tigger, will be animated. Or if the director will use real animals and use actors' voice over's.

The live action remakes of classic animated movies appear to be Disney's latest obsession as Winnie The Pooh is not the only beloved character to be getting a revamp. The news comes only a few days after the studios announced they would be turning their live action attention to the 1998 animation, Mulan. Dumbo will also have the live action treatment in a new film directed by Tim Burton and it was recently announce that Pete's Dragon will face the same treatment with a script from David Lowery (Ain't Them Bodies Saints). Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book are also undergoing the same treatment.

Deadline first reported the news.
