Rapper Wiz Khalifa has been charged with drug trafficking following his arrest in North Carolina on Monday night (08Nov10).
The hip-hop star, who was recently named MTV's Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010, was detained by police at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where he had been booked to perform a concert.
Police officers allegedly found a stash of marijuana during a search of the rapper's tour bus.
Khalifa - real name Cameron Thomaz - was arrested and later charged with felony counts of drug trafficking and maintaining a dwelling/place for the sale of a controlled substance, as well as a misdemeanour offence of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The star was released from custody on a $300,000 (£133,333) bond, according to Allhiphop.com.
He has since thanked fans for support in a post on his Twitter.com page, writing, "Thnx (thanks) for tha (sic) love and support".
