The stars were called out by name in the open letter
Dylan Farrow’s letter – which details the supposed sexual abuse by her adoptive father, Woody Allen – has been a hot topic of conversation. The stars of the controversial director’s latest film, the Oscar-nominated Blue Jasmine, have been responding to the allegations.
Woody Allen is being accused by Farrow of abusing her as a child
At the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Saturday night, journalist Jeffrey Wells asked Cate Blanchett for her response to the letter. "It's obviously been a long and painful situation for the family and I hope they find some sort of resolution and peace," Blanchett said, according to Wells.
“What if it had been your child, Cate Blanchett? Louis CK? Alec Baldwin? What if it had been you, Emma Stone? Or you, Scarlett Johansson? You knew me when I was a little girl, Diane Keaton. Have you forgotten me?” Farrow asked in the letter, singling out some of the actors to star in Woody Allen’s work.
"What the f&@% is wrong w u that u think we all need to b commenting on this family's personal struggle?" Baldwin Tweeted in response to someone asking whether Baldwin owes Dylan an apology. To another, he wrote: "So you know who's guilty? Who's lying? You, personally, know that?" He also Tweeted: "You are mistaken if you think there is a place for me, or any outsider, in this family's issue."
Dylan’s letter, which is currently live on the New York Times, opens with a harrowing paragraph, detailing her allegations of sexual abuse. What’s your favorite Woody Allen movie? Before you answer, you should know: when I was seven years old, Woody Allen took me by the hand and led me into a dim, closet-like attic on the second floor of our house. He told me to lay on my stomach and play with my brother’s electric train set. Then he sexually assaulted me,” she wrote.
