Festival News – Isle Of Man Cancelled Due To Poor Ticket Sales

Paloma Faith Wretch 32

As festival season gets into full swing, with Glastonbury kicking off this weekend, The Isle of Man festival has been axed due to poor ticket sales. This probably had something to do with the fact Wretch 32 and Paloma Faith were the headliners.

Festival organiser Chris Heyes of Rockingmann Festivals says: "Even with our fantastic sponsors on board, we just haven't been able to sell enough tickets to make the event viable this year," before adding: "With a festival market that sees festivals sharing similar line ups running almost every weekend throughout the Summer... I guess it's easier to just go somewhere that you can easily drive to without a ferry or a flight." It was always going to be difficult for the festival, with the market truly saturated. Glastonbury – easily the most popular of the British festivals – commands a lion share of the ticket sales, and with it occurring just the weekend before, people were always going to choose the South West location, despite the higher prices. "Unfortunately it seems that the public on the Island weren't quite ready to invest in a festival and for those travelling from the mainland and Ireland the travel arrangements required for a weekend visit to the Isle Of Man for some reason were proving too much of an undertaking."

The organizers aren’t giving up though, and want to invest more time and money into the forthcoming years. "We will not be defeated. I still believe that The Isle Of Man is a fantastic location for a music festival. Nobles Park is a magical venue with a clear view of the sea behind the main stage."

To celebrate the success of her tour, Geordie lass Cheryl Cole put on a fairly low-key party for her boyfriend Tre Holloway, plus closest friends and family, in a brand new, yet to be opened club and bar in Newcastle, called Bar Livello, on Dean Street.

On the final night of her two week 'A Million Lights' tour that ended at the Newcastle Arena, Cheryl got her new boyfriend up on stage for a quick dance, before then heading off to her private party, in a Rolls Royce. Hundreds of fans waited outside the venue, for just a glimpse of the former X-Factor judge and her gorgeous boyfriend.

On arrival the pair got stuck into drinks and Cheryl introduced Tre to all of her friends and family. One source told the Mirror that "Tre was happily chatting with Cheryl's friends and family. Although he was by Cheryl's side for most of the night, he was a big hit with everyone, he fitted right in." Cheryl has stayed very close to her family throughout her career, the source added "She looked so happy. It's a big deal for Cheryl to let someone in like that, and the fact that he got on so well with all her family really means something to her."

Interview with Wretch 32

As I walk up the stairs at the Ministry of Sound offices to meet Wretch 32, I was not surprised to find the man of the moment relaxed and chilled. I placed down my equipment and tried to replicate a similar demeanour. As I put down the Dictaphone, the flashing orange light on the technology alarms Wretch and he quickly asks me, the interviewer:
