November the 5th sees the release of his brand new album 'The Carnival II - Memoirs of an Immigrant'. The album features contributions from the likes of Mary J Blige (a follow up to '911'), Norah Jones, Shakira and Paul Simon. The first single 'Sweetest Girl' features Akon and has a chorus that will be swirling round in your head for the rest of the year!
Wyclef draws on influences from the islands, the streets and from his upbringing - musical and otherwise - from Haiti to the Marlborough projects in Brooklyn to New Jersey. In fact, earlier this year, Wyclef was involved a documentary on his home town 'Haiti'. He tirelessly campaigns to create awareness of the unacceptable level of violence.
As a founder member of The Fugees, Wyclef Jean has achieved more than most hip-hop artists can dream of. The bands eclectic masterpiece "The Score" sold over 6 million copies worldwide and remains one of the biggest selling hip-hop albums of all time. Wyclef was the first Fugee to go solo and has since worked with and eclectic mix of artists from Mary J Blige ('911') to Whitney Houston ('My Love is Your Love') to Sinead O'Connor, Bob Dylan, Tom Jones, Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, and last year with Shakira on the biggest number 1 hit of the year 'Hips Don't Lie'.
