Yoko Ono, Lou Reed and Sonic Youth are to perform at special fundraising gigs to boost aid efforts in tsunami-hit Japan.
The Japanese widow of John Lennon will be joined by their son Sean Lennon, rockers Sonic Youth and other acts for a concert at New York's Miller Theatre later this month (Mar11).
And on 9 April (11), a special 12-hour show, featuring former Velvet Underground frontman Reed, Laurie Anderson, and composer John Zorn, will be staged at the Big Apple's Japan Society headquarters.
Proceeds from both events will go to the Japan Society's Earthquake Relief Fund. More than 10,000 people are feared to have died when a tsunami hit the Far Eastern country last Friday (11Mar11) following a 9.0-magnitude tremor.
