Speculation as to why Efron turned to substance abuse has revolved around girl problems, issues with his parents, and a dissatisfaction with his movie career. Though Efron's rep is yet to comment, an insider speaking to People magazine reassured my saying, "He's doing great. He's taking care of himself and it shows."

And the actor was a little over-emphatic at this month's Toronto International Film Festival, telling reporters "I'm good, real good."

Efron shot to fame alongside on and off screen girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens in the Disney TV musical show, High School Musical.

Though the actor has been known to party hard and visit strip clubs in the past, he's kept a low profile of late, perhaps to avoid the temptation of drugs and alcohol. An insider talking to E! News revealed Zac is in a much better place now he's been through rehab: "He's healthy, happy and not drinking. He's taking time to focus on working."

Efron will be seen next in Parkland, a movie about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
