Zac Posen always "dreamed" of having his own store.

The designer is set to open his first Z Spoke standalone outlet in New York later this month and is very excited because he loves the shopping "experience".

He said: "I love the experience of retail. It's incredibly important to present a merchandised vision that can encompass the whole lifestyle of the woman. You can also see the whole creative process with the product, feel the story of the brand and have an intimate shopping experience.

"I dreamt of entering into retail my whole life. It's very gratifying that the collection is selling right now, and we can grow it and expand it."

In addition to clothing, the boutique will also stock handbags, small leather goods, scarves and hats, sunglasses, scented candles and will feature a library of rare and vintage books curated by Michael Gallagher - something Zac is struggling to stay away from.

He told WWD: "I have to keep myself away from being in the store and reading this incredible library."

The Z Spoke store will be decorated in red with post-modern furniture.

Speaking about the interior, Zac added: "It has a film noir quality. It feels like something that has potentially been there for some time."
