Bring On The Ice Puns: "Frozen" Maintains Hold Over US Album Chart
Frozen is heading straight for the records set by another Disney Flick almost two decades ago.
The Frozen soundtrack keeps going strong for its tenth non-consecutive week at the top of the US album chart. Its current run has been going on for 5 weeks straight. It looks like Frozen might be a constant presence in the charts throughout spring, which is unfortunate for news writers, who have all run out of ice-related puns a long time ago.
Idina Menzel is getting some well deserved recognition out of the soundtrack's success.
For the fifth week in a row, Frozen took the top position with sales of 133,000 (off 11%), according to Nielsen SoundScan data for the week ending April 13, vaulting over the 2 million-unit sales mark. Frozen has become a hit of Lion King proportions, having matched the 1994 soundtrack’s ten week run. However, according to figures from Nielsen SoundScan, via Variety, the album is nowhere near topping The Lion King's 10 mln copies record, despite achieving double platinum status.
