Zoe Saldana came to the aid of a woman involved in a car accident this week.

The 'Avatar' actress and another woman helped the elderly female driver - who was conscious but injured - from her car to the curb before calling emergency services after witnessing the crash in Culver City, California on Wednesday (18.01.12).

A source said: "Zoe witnessed the car accident, and was very quick to help.

"She immediately got on the phone with 911 and she seemed very concerned."

The 33-year-old actress then stayed with the woman, who had a gash on her face, until police and paramedics arrived.

The onlooker added to People magazine: "While waiting for help to arrive, Zoe returned to the woman's car and picked up the woman's handbag and sweater. Zoe was very caring and sweet to the woman."

Zoe isn't the only celebrity to have come to someone's aid while out in their car.

Earlier this week, it was revealed Channing Tatum helped a driver who was stranded by the side of the road.

The 'Dear John' star was driving to an interview in Los Angeles, but stopped when he saw a woman trying to push her car down a Dangerous exit ramp.

He stopped, telling the woman: "The car's smoking. Maybe it's on fire."

Noticing that the lady had a child in the back of her car, who turned out to be her grandson, he got him out of the vehicle, before trying to find out what was wrong with the auto and calling a tow truck company.

The actor's chauffer was able to make some rudimentary repairs to the car, which would be enough for the driver to make it to the next service station, and Channing gave the lady $100 to help cover the cost of the repair.
