The milestone comes a few weeks after it was announced that she and her boyfriend Alfie Deyes, another YouTube star with whom she lives, are to be honoured by becoming waxworks at London’s Madame Tussauds.

The star has been breaking other records in the recent past. At the end of 2014, she released her first book ‘Girl Online’ and shifted 78,000 copies in a week, achieving the highest first-week sales total for a debut novel in Britain ever.

However, controversy hit soon afterwards when it emerged that ‘Girl Online’ was not entirely Sugg’s own work, having received help from a ghost writer. Sugg was open about it at the time, saying: “Of course I was going to have help from Penguin’s editorial team in telling my story, which I talked about from the beginning.”

“Everyone needs help when they try something new. The story and the characters of ‘Girl Online’ are mine. I want to thank all of you who have taken time to support the book.”
