Have a spookily musical Halloween this year.

The early invitations are out and so it's time to start planning your Halloween costume. There is always too much choice for music fans thanks to iconic spooky looks from Michael Jackson in his Thriller outfit to Robert Smith being... well... Robert Smith. For a more up-to-date look though, we've got you covered.

Billie Eilish at the Met Gala

Ok, so it’s a bit extravagant, but what’s a Halloween party without someone wearing a completely over the top princess dress? This year, it’s your turn to take the limelight as Met Gala Billie Eilish- but hopefully without the hefty Oscar de la Renta price tag.

August 2021 Favourites: 'If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power', Sustainable, Green And Fresh, 'Solar Power'.

It's, almost, an all female lead cast as we pick our favourite five new releases from August!

After the excitement of getting Happier Than Ever in July, August just kept on giving with lots more inspiring musical releases. In a month that saw the opening of the Tokyo Paralympics, the start of the new Premiership season and the return of Extinction Rebellion protests to London the U.S. ended it's presence in Afghanistan, Haiti suffered a devastating earthquake and 'Ida' left one million in Louisiana without power. Kanye came back with his long awaited 10th studio album, Donda, Reading & Leeds returned to put on the biggest UK festival in two years to the ecstatic delight of tens of thousands and multi-million selling breakthrough artist Olivia Rodrigo had to continually defend plagiarism claims surrounding her global number one album, SOUR. Britney came one step closer to freedom, rumours ramped up about the possibility of a new Abba record following teasers on TikTok and not one, not two, but three more Little Mix's were brought into the world. As well as all that going on there was also our top five favourite releases, here they are.

The Blink-182 drummer has teamed up with numerous hip hop and mainstream pop acts over the last decade, but rather than his sound taking a more commercial turn, in the last couple of years it's been his collaborators that have adopted the music style that Blink-182 helped shape.

January Favourites 2020: This Month Has Been Visceral, Sentimental, And Occasionally Industrial

By Holly Mosley in Music / Festivals on 31 January 2020

What we've been listening to this month.

The first month of 2020 is finally over after what feels like forever, and Brexit is finally happening after what feels like even longer, so you'd be forgiven for having a few mixed emotions. But there's nothing like this month's album haul to reflect the feelings of the current political and social hive mind. Here's a few of our favourites...

Poppy - I Disagree

You just don't expect this kind of album to come out of a pop act, but then Poppy is all about breaking the rules. I Disagree marks her third album, her first release on Sumerian Records and her final collaboration with creative partner Titanic Sinclair. With elements of metal and industrial infused into her electropop sound, this is the kind of genre-bending pluckiness we love.

Halsey was warned not to release 'Nightmare'.

The 24-year-old singer has revealed that she was advised not to release the track, which she previously called an ''angry anthem'', as a follow-up to her chart-topping '11 Minutes', with boyfriend Yungblud and Travis Barker, but she did because she was determined to be more political.

Halsey told America's Cosmopolitan magazine: ''That's the problem: I'll do what I want, knock down everyone in my path who says I shouldn't, and then when people don't like it, I'm like, 'Why?!'

Seven Pop Acts That Alternative People Will Admit They Love

By Holly Mosley in Music / Festivals on 03 May 2019

Halsey CHVRCHES The Twilight Sad Bjork Bring Me The Horizon Grimes

These artists are no-one's guilty pleasure.

The world is by no means split into those who like alternative music and those who like pop music, but we can't help but get excited when we see a hugely diverse fanbase for an artist generally considered a chart act. Here are seven artists that bring together some very different music fans.

Billie Eilish

The alternative crowd are naturally used to turning the other way when a new face hits the charts, but there's something about this moody, quirky teen that has caught everyone's attention. Not only does she come across as a real person we can all relate to, as opposed to another manufactured, vapid popstar, her music has a weirdness and a darkness to it that has the alternative folk enchanted. And yet, her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? is still as catchy and accessible as you'd expect from a chart-topping record.

Sad news for Halsey and G-Eazy fans as it's just been revealed that the pair have split up after about a year of dating. It's never nice to hear about couples breaking up, but there are already rumours of Halsey moving swiftly on as she's been spotted out and about with another famous face.

The 23-year-old New Jersey singer has been dating the 29-year-old Oakland rapper since last summer, and went public with the news in September. Two months later, they collaborated on his song 'Him & I' from his fourth studio album 'The Beautiful & Damned', and we saw just how cute they were as a couple in the video they shot for it in New York.
