Jury To Decide In Ed Sheeran Copyright Case
By Ed Biggs in Music / Festivals on 04 January 2019
A jury must decide whether Sheeran infringed the copyright of Marvin Gaye's 'Let's Get It On' in his hit song 'Thinking Out Loud'.
An American judge has ruled that a jury must decide whether or not Ed Sheeran plagiarised Marvin Gaye’s song ‘Let’s Get It On’ for his own hit ‘Thinking Out Loud’.
In his decision released on Thursday (January 3rd), district judge Louis Stanton ruled that a jury must decide, in the process rejecting Sheeran’s motion to have the lawsuit dismissed. The judge also maintained that there were “substantial similarities between several of the two works' musical elements”.
Gaye’s track, one of his signature songs, was released in 1973, while Sheeran’s massive Grammy-winning hit ‘Thinking Out Loud’ was released from his second album X in 2014. The British singer has denied copying elements of Gaye’s track.

Ed Sheeran Claps Back Brilliantly At Criticism Of His Clothes For Beyonce Duet
By Ed Biggs in Fashion / Beauty on 07 December 2018
Sheeran drew criticism for what he wore compared to Beyonce during their duet at Global Citizen last weekend.
In response to the backlash his dress sense caused this week regarding his duet with Beyonce, Ed Sheeran is owning his sartorial choices with a brilliant riposte.
Last weekend, Sheeran performed with Beyonce at the Global Citizen Festival in Johannesburg, South Africa. Bey, as is to be expected, chose a glamorous and eye-catching outfit for the performance of their duet ‘Perfect’ – but Sheeran looked like he’d just thrown together his outfit at the last minute.
It can’t have been entirely surprising, as Sheeran’s jeans, checked shirt and scruffy undershirt look is one that’s been his trademark throughout his eight-year career, but many objected to the total disconnect between Bey and Ed’s outfits and argued that it was reflective of double standards expected of male and female artists.
