Liam Gallagher has told fans "life is precious" in the wake of Liam Payne's death.

The Oasis frontman admitted he thought it was "very sad" that the former One Direction singer had passed away at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina on Wednesday (16.10.24).

Quoting in part a line from his own song 'Once', Liam posted on X: Life is precious kids and you only get to do it ONCE go easy LG x (sic)"

Asked if he'd heard the news about the 'Strip That Down' hitmaker, he added: "I have it’s very sad."

Fellow rocker Ronnie Wood was "shocked and saddened" by the news.

The Rolling Stones guitarist shared a video of him performing with One Direction on 'The X Factor' and wrote on X: "I am shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Liam Payne. It was a pleasure to work with him on our X Factor performance. God bless Liam, thinking of all his loved ones. He will be dearly missed.[prayer emoji] (sic)"

McFly have sent their "thoughts and love" to Liam's loved ones, including his seven-year-old son Bear, who he had with former partner Cheryl Tweedy.

They wrote on X: "We’re shocked and extremely sad to wake up to the news of Liam Payne’s death. Our thoughts and love are with his family and friends at such a difficult time [heart emoji] (sic)"

Backstreet Boys also paid a touching tribute to the 'Bedroom Floor' hitmaker.

They posted: "Words can not express the emotions we are collectively feeling right now, and it seems like the rest of the world is in the same boat.

"Our hearts go out to Liam’s family, friends, and Directioners around the world.

"Rest in peace brother."

BBC Radio 2 DJ Zoe Ball described the news as "devastating".

She wrote: "devastating news, dear Liam Payne

"thoughts + love to his family, friends and fans (sic)"
