Late rocker Lou Reed branded The Beatles "garbage" and dismissed The Doors as "stupid" in a recently-discovered lost interview.
The Velvet Underground star, who passed away in 2013, sat down with journalist Joe Smith in 1987 and opened up about his thoughts on the Fab Four and Jim Morrison's band.
In the chat, which has now been published as part of the PBS Digital Studios' Blank on Blank series, Reed insisted he "liked nobody" when he started out with his band in the 1960s.
He said, "I never liked The Beatles. I thought they were garbage. If you say, 'Who did you like?' I liked nobody... (Some bands) were just painfully stupid and pretentious, and when they did try to get, in quotes, 'arty,' it was worse than stupid rock 'n' roll. What I mean by 'stupid,' I mean, like, The Doors."
