Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson and Jean Smart will star in the second season of Fargo, set to premiere on FX next fall. The first season was a critical success and racked up five Golden Globe nominations for the ceremony on January 11.

Wilson - star of The Conjuring - will star as Lou Solverson, a clean-cut Minnesota State Patrolman four years back from Vietnam. Danson will play Hank Larsson, Lou's father-in-law and the sheriff of Rock County, Minnesota. Jean Smart - an Emmy winner for Frasier - plays Floyd Gerhardt, the matriarch of the Gerhardt crime family.

The three actors join the previously announced newcomers Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons for the 10-episode second season. The show is set in 1979 Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and follows both Lou and Hank investigating a case involving a local crime gang and a major mob syndicate.

Nick Offerman, Brad Garrett, Kieran Culkin, Bokeem Woodbine, Jeffrey Donovan and Angus Sampson will all appear in recurring roles.

Showrunner and writer Noah Hawley returns, as do Warren Littlefield, John Cameron and Joel and Ethan Coen as executive producers. Production begins on the second season in Calgary on January 19.

"Young State Police Officer "Lou Solverson" (Wilson), recently back from Vietnam, investigates a case involving a local crime gang and a major Mob syndicate. Helping him piece things together is his father-in-law, "Sheriff Hank Larsson" (Danson). The investigation will lead them to a colorful cast of characters that includes "Karl Weathers" (Nick Offerman), the town lawyer of Luverne, Minnesota.
