Biography

Jessie J (born Jessica Ellen Cornish, 27.3.1988) Jessie J is a singer / songwriter from Essex and is signed to both Lava Records and Universal Republic Records.

Childhood: Jessie J started acting as a child and had a role in the West End production of Whistle Down the Wind. After leaving Mayfield High School, she started studying at the BRIT school and joined a girl group when she was 17 years old. Jessie J then signed to Gut Records, home to Tom Jones and Jimmy Sommerville, but the label went bust before releasing any of her music.

Later on in her teens, Jessie J suffered from heart trouble and also experienced a minor stroke.

Music Career: Jessie J's music career started to take off after she found success as a songwriter. She landed a Sony ATV publishing contract and co-wrote the song 'Party in the USA' with the producer Doctor Luke and Claude Kelly, for Miley Cyrus (also known for her role in Hannah Montana).

Jessie J also wrote tracks for Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera and Rihanna's ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, with whom she also toured.

Jessie J's single 'Do It Like a Dude' was released in the UK in November 2010. The track received a great deal of airplay on BBC Radio 1. Jessie J stated that she had originally written the song for Rihanna but eventually decided to record the song herself. The single debuted at number 25 on the UK Singles Chart.

Jessie J then earned herself a slot on Later Live With Jools Holland, performing an acoustic version of her song 'Price Tag'. It was announced that he track was due to be released as a single in March 2011, with the rapper B.o.B. performing additional vocal duties. This would be followed by an album entitled Who You Are. She also built up a loyal following by posting videos of herself performing on YouTube, including a cover of 'I Have Nothing', originally made famous by Whitney Houston.

In December 2010, it was announced that Jessie J was one of the rising stars included in the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll. Other acts included in the long list were: Jamie Woon, Esben and the Witch, James Blake, Warpaint, The Vaccines, Daley, Claire Maguire, Wretch 32 and Anna Calvi. That same month, it was also announced that Jessie J had won the Critics Choice award at the 2011 BRIT Awards Ceremony.

Jessie J's music has also appeared on film soundtracks: The track 'Who You Are' was used in the third installment of the Step Up film series, Step Up 3D and the track 'Sexy Silk' was on the soundtrack to the 2010 comedy film, Easy A.

Channing Tatum looks to be getting over the breakdown of his marriage of nearly a decade to Jenna Dewan, with new reports suggesting he’s nurturing a new romance with pop star Jessie J.

The 38 year old actor, a star of Magic Mike and Hail, Caesar!, split earlier in 2018 from Dewan after more than eight years of marriage, during which they welcomed a daughter named Everly, now aged five. Just a few months later, however, it’s been reported that he’s found someone new in 30 year old English singer Jessie.

Apparently, they’ve been seeing each other for a couple of months in secret – but it’s not clear exactly how and when they met.

During an interview on US TV show 'Live With Kelly', the 'Price Tag' hitmaker said: ''I did an hour's audition and tried to find a voice they liked. I didn't want to get it because of the music I've done. I want to get it because I deserve it.''

Tension had been simmering between the two judges ever since the fourth series launched at the end of June.

‘Australia’s sweetheart’ Delta Goodrem has stormed off the set of the country’s version of reality singing show ‘The Voice’, after becoming frustrated and angry with her fellow judge Jessie J’s criticisms of the program’s contestants.

Goodrem, 30, was incensed with British pop star Jessie’s negative comments about contestant Tamara Callaghan and her performance of Marilyn Monroe’s song ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’. Jessie was giving her some tips on how she should have sung it, when Goodrem ripped off her microphone and earpiece and walked off the set, being heard to say “I’m over this s***, I give up.”

Jessie J has been making waves on the season curtain-raiser of ‘The Voice Australia’, ruffling the feathers of her fellow judges with her frank and forthright opinions.

Sunday night (June 28th) saw the fourth season of the talent show make its premiere on the Nine network. Jessie J has given fans an update on her recovery after undergoing a mystery operation earlier in the week. The singer has said she’s ‘not ok’ and is still in ‘a lot of pain’ following the surgery which has taken her longer to recover from than first expected.

“I have seen a lot of "How are you today" comments... How am I.... *Looks up sighs and has to be honest. I am not ok... The 'Who's Laughing Now' singer underwent surgery earlier this week, the nature of which has not been divulged, and posted a bedside recovery photo on social media.

British pop star Jessie J is taking some off to recuperate after having surgery for an undisclosed illness, after sharing a video of herself on social media lying in bed in hospital afterwards.

The 27 year old singer posted a short video on Instagram on Tuesday (June 23rd), a before and after shot of the operation. “I don't often share personal stuff (especially about my health) any more, I just get on with it,” she wrote. “But I wanted to share with you before someone else might and it gets twisted and exaggerated into something different or worse.”
