The 90s is by far one of our favourite decades for music, not only because of its rich and diverse span of genres, but also because of the incredible female talent that came out of that time. Here are just a few of the greatest women-led albums of this extraordinary era.

1. Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes (1992)

This American redhead's debut album was actually a second attempt which she worked on with her then boyfriend Eric Rosse following the break-up of her band Y Kant Tori Read. It became a tour de force, breaking pop conventions with its acoustic piano and Tori's unusual vocal style, and lyrics that range from the funny to the surreal. It's a sublime commentary on female sexuality and it hasn't aged a day.

Grammy winning girl band TLC are finally back with a long-anticipated fifth studio album this summer and North American tour, and with it they make their UK debut with a sold-out show in London this week. It's been a long time coming, but there's no time like the present for a record like this. 

TLC release their self-titled new album this summer

Their self-titled new record comes fifteen years after the release of their last album '3D' which came just before their hiatus and a few months after the death of Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes. It took a tremendously successful Kickstarter campaign to get Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins and Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas back on track with a new album, and since reforming they have received the coveted MTV Legend Award.

Just three days after launching their Kickstarter campaign, TLC have not only raised enough money to record their fifth and final album, they’ve exceeded their goal. The group have so far raised over $210,000 in just three days, beating their target of $150,000 in 30 days.

The amazing total is thanks in part to some of the band’s famous fans including singer Katy Perry, who, according to TMZ, has donated $5,000 to the campaign. That $5,000 pledge gets Perry a slumber party with the girls where she can “put on her jammies, order some late night snacks and have some #TLCPillowTalk".

Love New Kids On The Block? Been ‘Hangin’ Tough’ since the last time you saw the boys on stage? Well the wait is nearly over, as the 90s boyband (now manband) have just announced a 43 date US tour, kicking off this May, where they’ll be bringing along two very special guests.

TLC and Nelly will be joining the boys on 'The Main Event' tour, which kicks off May 1st at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Events Center. Tickets for the tour go on sale January 31st, with an American Express presale beginning this Friday.

The remaining members of TLC, T-Boz and Chilli, want full control over their final album, and instead of looking to a major record label for financial aid for the producing and promotion of the record, the R&B duo are appealing to their fans via a Kickstarter campaign.

It looks like the romance between Wayne Brady and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas of TLC is over before it even began. A source reportedly told People the singer and comedian were an item after being spotted in Las Vegas over the weekend.

"They've been down this road before, but now the timing is right," the source had told the magazine. "They've been friends for a long time, but the romance is a new thing."

The VH1 biopic about 90s girl group TLC aired today and so far, the reviews aren’t the best. It’s great to take a trip down memory lane and of course, everyone 90s kids still have love for T-Boz, Left Eye and Chilli, but if you need your fix, the reviews say you should just stick to music videos.

"CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story" stars Keke Palmer, Lil' Mama and Drew Sidora as Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, Left Eye and T-Boz, respectively. According to Slate’s Willa Paskin, the three aren’t necessarily bad as TLC, but the biopic overall is erratic – “themes are picked up and tossed aside and haphazardly picked up again.”

R&B girl group TLC are back after nearly an 8 year hiatus with a new album called '20' and a biopic of their journey to becoming the Grammy winning trio.'Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story' is VH1's first biopic in nearly ten years, following Michael Jackson's 'Man In The Mirror; The Michael Jackson Story' from 2004.

The biopic follow the girl's early beginnings in Atlanta, their rise to fame in the 1990's, the turmoil of their fame and the tragic death of Lisa Lopes, who was fatally injured in a car accident in 2002. A talented young cast who portray the girl group are Keke Palmer as Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas, Drew Sidora plays Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins and Lil Mama take son the role of the late Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes.

For the 16,000 fans who attended Drake's OVO Fest show in Toronto, the whole evening was full of perfect "I Was There" moments with appearances from the exalted lords and ladies of R&B and hiphop royalty.

With an acronym that stands for 'October's Very Own' (October referring to Drake's birth month), OVO Festival is an event that has seen success in recent years and looks to get even bigger still. Previous years have seen performances from Stevie Wonder, Snoop Lion, Eminem, Jay Z and Nicki Minaj but the Canadian rapper and organiser outdid himself at OVO Fest 2013.
