It is turning out to be quite a sad week with a string of celebrity deaths hitting the world, the latest being celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain. He was found dead in his hotel room in France earlier this week, and it's thought that he took his own life while working on a new episode of his show.

The 61-year-old is well-known for his international culinary exploits, writing a number of books and travelling the world in his exploration of food culture. But his career had been marred by substance abuse in the past, and apparently his mental health had been in trouble for some time.

The UK version of The Taste, which Americans got to see way back in 2012, is the talk of the internet today. And after last night’s premiere, there’s one part of the programme that everyone is in love with – Nigella Lawson. The reviewers have varying opinions on Nigella’s fellow judges Anthony Bourdain and Ludo Lefebvre, but Nigella herself seems to be attracting universal love.

For some, it's the dynamic between all three judges that makes The Taste watchable.

“Nigella Lawson seemed easily the sanest, nicest of the panel,” The Telegraph’s Christopher Howse writes. He continues: “But I’d far rather see Nigella cook on television than sit on a gameshow like this, beauty wedged between two ravening, foul-mouthed beasts.”

It’s fair to say the 2013 – the tail end of it at least – was tough for Nigella Lawson; a very public split from her husband was followed by an equally public court case, which saw two of her former aides acquitted over charges of fraudulently spending £685,000 between 2008 and 2012.

But public opinion of Nigella rarely dropped, and her candid nature in court won her more fans than her drug revelations lost her. Even the two aides she took to court - Italian sisters Elisabetta and Francesca Grillo – have praised her bravery.

Nigella Lawson has a lot on her plate at the moment, if you'll excuse the pun, and as if having to endure a messy divorce and a court case against two former employees, the allegations into her supposed drug use haven't made life any easier. Facing a potentially ruinous scandal, from the mouth of her estranged husband nonetheless - art dealer Charles Saatchi - Nigella has finally been handed some support by ABC, who look to be standing by her, for now.

Anthony Bourdain has written a piece for Entertainment Weekly’s Pop Watch, in which he opens up on the experience of filming The Taste – ABC’s cooking completion. But perhaps one of the most startling things is his admiration for British chef Nigella Lawson.

“First off,” Bourdain begins in his odyssey of praise for Lawson, “let me say, if you are lucky enough to be friends with Nigella Lawson, you are very fortunate indeed. Waking up every day to have a car take you to studio where the sublime Ms. Lawson is padding about in fuzzy slippers and an Ethel Mertz robe, her hair in curlers, is one of life’s great joys.

We've all had that moment; looking at photos of our favourite celebs and then jumping out of our seats screaming, 'He's HOW old?!' Well, we've been doing a lot of that here at ContactMusic. Some stars seem to have crept up the age ladder pretty sneakily, the odd wrinkle and grey hair barely registering on our radar, while others don't seem to have aged at all! English football player David Beckham was in his twenties when he rose to global popularity and, looking at his recent H&M underwear advert, it seems that his iconic hairstyles and tattoos are our only way of working out the old from the newer pictures of him. However, he is only 37 and has plenty of time to catch up yet. It's the over-50s that have really had our mouths agape in recent times as we've been scouring the net for the most youthful looking middle to old aged stars.

Keep it cool, Anthony Bourdain … stay calm … hold it …. Oh nuts. Anthony Bourdain’s fury at a delayed American Airlines flight couldn’t be contained as the notorious loudmouth started letting everyone on Twitter know about how much he was being inconvenienced, before describing each update in increasing, desperate detail.

It started innocuously enough, with Bourdain telling his wife he didn’t think he’d be getting to where he needed on time. Then things got mad. "Love the poor gate agent, standing mute under the "on time " sign when clearly we are f***ed. #AA. What does "special situation" mean in airlines speak? Ain't nothin special about late departure #AA” came the first one. Then, like drizzle to a storm, they tumbled. “But but I had timed my airport margaritas and Valium for a timely departure! #AA” he rumbled on, adding “This #AA thing is gonna get all Withnail and I real soon.”

Bourdain had apparently retired to the Panini bar by this point, and found out the situation eventually: “Latest news is it took #AA two hours to admit a passenger dropped a wet deuce on a seat. Need to change planes.” His finally message cryptically read “Now pilots roaming freely…waiting for Godot. #AA”. He hasn’t tweeted since, so we don’t know if we reached his destination; it could well be that someone simply grabbed his phone off him, tired of his tedious updates.
