He's become a phenomenon with the recent release of Marvel's 'Black Panther' movie, but Chadwick Boseman has had the training to ensure that he would succeed in his career from the very beginning. Apparently, some of that training was funded by fellow Hollywood star Denzel Washington.

The 40-year-old opened up about how his hero paid for him to attend a prestigious summer exchange program at Oxford University in the UK, after one of his acting teachers - Phylicia Rashad - encouraged some of her pals to fund her acting class at Howard University in Washington, DC.

The Equalizer, a thriller starring Denzel Washington conquered the North American box off after yet another slow weekend. Washington plays a man, who helps rescue a young girl from the clutches of Russian gangsters. With Antoine Fuqua directing, the film plays like classic Washington fare – stylish, violent and effective in delivering a simple point, just like its protagonist.

But enough about that, let’s show some love to the competition that The Equalizer bumped off. The latest YA dystopian adaptation, The Maze Runner, dropped to second place, checking in at $17,5 million in North American weekend earnings, according to Box Office Mojo. This brings the film – a story about teenagers, who wake up to find themselves stranded in the middle of a creature-infested maze – to a two-week domestic gross of $58 million.

Denzel Washington has clarified his comments about playing James Bond after Daniel Craig relinquishes the role in a couple of years' time. The Training Day actor had joked that he was starting a campaign to have him considered for the role though insists his remarks were just that - a joke.

He told Shortlist magazine: "I was on the phone, and the person on the phone was asking me the questions that were being sent in to her, and so then she was sending out my response to whoever's online. So the was question was, 'Would You play James Bond?' and I said, 'Yeah sure, why not?' and jokingly, 'Yeah, get out there and start a campaign! Denzel for James Bond!"

Rising star Chloe Grace Moretz stars alongside Washington, who plays a solitary vigilante who dedicates his life to helping the victims of crimes. A sequel has already been planned despite the fact the film isn't released until the end of September.
