Film career: Channing Tatum originally worked as a dancer and a model before landing his first TV role in a 2004 episode of 'CSI: Miami'. His first movie role was in 'Coach Carter' the following year opposite Samuel L. Jackson. In 2006, he was the lead actor in rom com 'She's the Man' which also starred Amanda Bynes. His dancing experience landed him a role in 'Step Up' that year, a film that became his first big success. He also appeared in the sequel 'Step Up 2: The Streets'. His role in 'A Guide To Recognising Your Saints' alongside Robert Downey Jr. earned him much praise, and he became more of a major star with 'Public Enemies' opposite Johnny Depp. Taking a slightly more low-brow role, he then went on to appear in 'GI Joe: The Rise of the Cobra', with Dennis Quaid. In 'Dear John', Channing played the role of a soldier, opposite Amanda Seyfried, before reprising his partnership with Dito Montiel for 'The Brotherhood of the Rose'. Whilst he was filming for 'The Eagle', Channing Tatum suffered serious burns when a crew member poured boiling water into his wetsuit, having forgotten to mix the hot water with cold water from the river. He continued filming for the movie, which was released in 2011 and also starred Jamie Bell. Tatum went on to feature in the action movie 'Haywire' which stars the former martial arts champion Gina Carano, as well as Ewan McGregor and Antonio Banderas. Channing Tatum then appeared in a remake of the 1987 film '21 Jump Street', along with the comic actor Jonah Hill. The movie's sequel was '22 Jump Street'. In 2012, he played a male stripper in 'Magic Mike', with the following year bringing him roles in 'Don Jon' with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and political thriller 'White House Down' with Jamie Foxx. In 2014, he lent his voice to 'The Lego Movie' and played wrestling champ Mark Schultz in 'Foxcatcher' opposite Steve Carell.
Personal Life: Channing Tatum was born in Cullman, Alabama but grew up in Mississippi. His parents are airline attendant Kay and builder Glenn Tatum. As a teenager, he enjoyed a variety of sports including martial arts. He went to Gaither High School and later Tampa Catholic High School, before briefly playing football at Glenville State College. In 2009, he married Jenna Dewan with whom he has one daughter.
