The 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards took place over the weekend, with some stellar performers and some very well-deserved award recipients. Shawn Mendes was the big winner of the night, taking home four gongs in total and playing his winning single 'There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back' live.

As well as landing Best Song for the third single of his number one second album 'Illuminate', the 19-year-old singer-songwriter also landed Best Artist, Biggest Fans and Best Canadian Act at the award ceremony last night (November 12th 2017), held at the SSE Wembley Arena in London. It appears he's the only nominee of the night to take home multiple awards.

The 2017 MTV VMAs rocked up this weekend with a number of special surprises, a big political agenda and a big win for Kendrick Lamar. There were some seriously spectacular performances, a few tear-jerking moments, but most of all it was an event of solidarity between everyone involved.

London has been unveiled as the host of this year’s MTV European Music Awards, for the first time in more than two decades.

The ceremony will be held at the SSE Arena in Wembley on November 12 and organisers have promised some of “the world’s biggest artists” for the 24th annual awards.

Justin Bieber has engaged in, and walked out of, more than his fair share of bizarre interviews during his career, but he’s probably not been involved in one as trying as this.

The Daily Mail reported a painfully awkward exchange that occurred on Wednesday (October 28th) with the Spanish radio station Vodafone yu. In an interview that featured three Spanish-speaking interviews, only one of whom could speak English in very rudimentary fashion, and no translator for Bieber (who most definitely does not habla Espanol), there could only be one outcome.

They’re supposed to the ‘sensible alternative’ to the showbiz blowout of the VMAs, but the MTV Europe Music Awards at the weekend provided a surprising number of talking points – not least the sight of a slightly drunk Ed Sheeran proving once and for all that he’s not just some bland nonentity.

The superstar, who picked up two awards during the evening as well as sharing the hosting duties with ‘Orange Is The New Black’s Ruby Rose, put in a gloriously half-cut performance that had many viewers commenting with amusement on his antics.

Although she was very upset to be snubbed for her ‘Anaconda’ video earlier this month, Nicki Minaj has revealed that she’ll be opening the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony on Sunday evening with a live performance.

32 year old Minaj has performed twice before at the VMAs ceremony, but this is the first time she’ll open the evening. She’s fresh off the back of her sold-out Pinkprint Tour across the US.

She decided to tease her fans a little bit as part of her announcing the upcoming performance, posting a picture of what looked like a sonogram scan on Thursday evening (August 27th) – poking fun at those pregnancy rumours that have been doing the rounds this month.

Kanye West is to be the recipient of this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday (August 30th).

According to a statement from MTV, ‘Ye is being honoured with the award on account of his “career-spanning groundbreaking videos, legendary VMA performances and continued impact on music, art, fashion and culture.”

Taylor Swift vs Katy Perry round 458 (probably)! The ‘Shake It Off’ singer suspects that her nemesis Katy Perry is the mastermind behind Miley Cyrus’ recent criticisms of her.

An unnamed insider told HollywoodLife on Saturday (August 15th) that Swift believes Perry has somehow incited Miley to attack her. Cyrus has recently spoken of her distaste for Tay’s ‘Bad Blood’ music video, criticising it for being “violent”, and has recently hinted that she and her current boyfriend Calvin Harris will be the prime targets of her upcoming MTV VMAs performance on August 30th.
